About
I come from a long line of women who love to create and hate to clean. After making a few quilts with my mother as a teen, I returned to quilting in 2009 when my family and I moved to Iowa from California. I then discovered the modern quilting movement, quilt guilds, and a new passion.
Building on my foundation of basic sewing skills, I learned quilting from the internet, but found myself frustrated when my creative ideas outstripped my technical skills. I began to take all the classes I could find and was surprised by how many of the traditional handwork techniques I truly enjoyed. I experimented integrating these classic skills into the modern aesthetic that appealed to me. This has led to my current body of work that merges improvisational piecing with the techniques of heritage hand work from across the globe. I now share the results of this uninhibited stitching experimentation through my teaching.
My quilts have been exhibited at multiple Quiltcons, The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show, and Road to California.
